Public Work is made up of commissions for the following:
– Sculptures for Councils and Local Authority Parks
– Sculptures for Friends of Parks
– Sculptures for Schools
I work very closely with schools/friends of parks on commissions. For instance, the children of Didsbury CE school and the Friends of Didsbury Park wanted a sculpture. With input from the children, I carved various woodland creatures onto a 7′ stump over several days. The children were involved with the design process and then were able to go on site each day to see me carve. The children were involved from the start and has this has become a hugely successful community project.
Public Commissions are generally on a larger scale and include benches, Park entrance pieces, as well as individual pieces that make up a Sculpture Trail.
A recent Manchester City Council commission was for a huge Jubilee Throne for Her Majesty the Queen – The first piece that my brother Tim and I had worked on together. It was presented to her during the Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
I have also recently completed two life-size sculptures of WW1 Soldiers for centenary celebrations.
